Sharon Cox is a Real Estate attorney with extensive experience, coupled with a detail-oriented approach to real estate transactions and real estate law. With over nine years of real estate experience, she has helped to resolve from real estate property issues at the negotiating table, to litigation in the courtroom. She represents real estate firms, financial institutions, corporations in connection with their use, management and operation of real estate.
For her clients, Sharon serves as a vital legal resource and committed legal advocate, when they are facing issues that could result in potential litigation. Her exposure to real estate law spans, working as a real estate transactional attorney - representing clients in commercial lease disputes, leasing, foreclosure and community association disputes; contract negotiations; clearing of land use, property violations and lien issues, and closing of real estate transactions; to the formation of US corporations, off-shore corporations, and contract negotiations. Her background makes her an asset to her clients.
Possessing a commitment to education, she has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of the West Indies, in Kingston Jamaica; a Masters Degree in Real Estate with a concentration in Finance from New York University in New York, New York, and a Doctorate of Law Degree from the University of Miami School of Law, in Coral Gables, Florida.
Sharon’s real estate experience, spans other areas of laws, such as bankruptcy, family law, and economic crimes. During law school, she interned for the Honorable Judge Robert Mark in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Miami, Florida, where she conducted extensive research and conferred with Judge Mark on the various cases. She also worked with the Office of the Attorney General’s- Economic Crimes Unit, aiding the OAG in its fight against economic crimes in South Florida, along with writing guidelines for the Unit.
Sharon also dedicated five years to the Private Client Real Estate Division of Citigroup, auditing mortgage loans and fashioning modifications or workouts for financially distressed mortgage holders. These negotiation and communication skills were transferred from Corporate America, to the field of law. In addition, her Masters of Science in Real Estate, from New York University, evidences a real estate focus throughout her career.
